How We Started
The South Kaipara Men’s Trust was created in 2008 by a group of local citizens concerned about the apparent lack of good quality male mentoring for young men in the local area. The Trust grew from this basic beginning to be a strong and reliable social agency for our district over the last sixteen years to 2022.
Our Philosophy
Building On Inherent Strengths
The Men and Family Centre staff work from a strengths based approach that seeks to build on the inherent good in each person or family. Tama Tu Whanau Ora is about Men standing so the whole community will be healthy. Our services and programmes are designed to build on and grow whats already working in a system and in so doing address the things that need to change.
The Men and Family Centre is both a community agency – providing services and programmes and a Community Development catylist. Most of our programmes and projects are collaborative and we work alongside or partner with a range of other organisations eg
